Silence-Call of spirit

In this world of instant communication, the best way to clear out the clutter is to cut the chatter.Silence clears mind and maintains peace. When you speak, energy leaves your body. By not speaking, you conserve it and restore the energy within your body.
In India, for centuries several spiritual philosophies have propounded the importance of silence. It speaks of "Mouna Vratham" or silent mediation. This for those who want to commune within themselves. The right way is to remain silent from sunrise to the following sunrise. But in the original form, one is not supposed to speak or eat. Basically, you do not open the mouth for any purpose. There is also another form, antar mounam or inner peace, where one stops talking for 10 or 20 days, using the time to meditate. The idea behind this practice is to focus your energies on yourself and free your mind. You will find that, at the end of it, you have more energy than ever before.
Now a days there are many workshops on silence. Here participants have to keep silent all the time there, and are given a silene break for just a couple of hours every week. Questions have to be asked in writing. After the work shop is over participants are asked to maintain silence at least an hour every day.
It is good to take week off every year to maintain silence. To do this you have to withdraw from activities at least two days before the programme. This preparation is done because in the workshop one will not only be silent but also ignore every one by not even looking into another's eyes.

Note : This is only a scribbling note. These are purely my understanding. These may or may not be the correct one. This is not to hurt anybody's feeling.
